Trailhiking

 

Do you like hiking or walking, the Rauris valley has over 300 km of indicated trails, trails in different difficulty levels and duration, something for everyone.

Choose one of the different theme-trails, hire a mountainguide, wander around endless mountain pastures, enjoy traditional or culinary snacks at one of the mountainhuts, splash barefoot around in mountainstreams and feel de rush of water at one of many waterfalls. Put on your backpack, slip on those hiking boots, the mountains are calling!

National Park Hohe Tauern

 

With over 1856 km2 the National Park Hohe Tauern is the largest protected area of the Alps and stretches over the three Bundeslander Salzburg, Tirol and Karinthië. Take part in one of the guided tours with a National Park Ranger and discover all the beauties of nature.

Valley of Vultures

 

The Rauriser Krummltal in the National Park Hohe Tauern is well known for the presence of the Golden Eagle, Bearded Vulture and the Griffon Vulture. During the educative and family friendly walkingtour “Kings of the air”, you will learn many interesting facts about these magnificent birds of pray.

Do not forget to visit the exhibition “Köninge der Lüfte” which is practically opposite our house. Or pay a visit to the Bird of Pray show and  watch Eagles, hawks and owls from close up during the Bird of Pray show at the Hochalmbahn skilift, this will certainly leave a lasting impression.

Rauris Hochalmbahn

 

The family oriented Hochalm is good for a full day of playing on the mountain, maybe even for two or three days, combine it with a visit to the Bird of Pray show or a nice walk along Tilly’s walkway.

Search for treasures at the Goldpanning area and discover the forces of water at the playground, feel the nature at your feet at the barefoot trail or relax with a cool drink in one of the many cosy almhuts or restaurants.

Gold panning

 

Go treasure hunting at the Hochalmbahn mid station or at the original Gold wash station in Kolm Saigurn. Learn the rich history of the Rauris valley, once famous for the enormous amounts of gold found right here and of course try to find some yourself using the traditional methods.

Enjoy the culinary treasures of the Heimalm or the Bodenhaus and evaluate your new found treasures.

Rafting and Canyoning

 

Abseilen along a waterfall, climb and kletter through the klamm or force yourself through de stream and ravish waters of the Salzach in a raft. Whatever your choice is, it will anyhow be an unforgettable day.

Also suited for young families with children as from 7-8 years old.

Kitzlochklamm

 

You cannot skip a visit to one of the most beautiful and impressive gorges in our Alpine region, the Kitzlochklamm. A tour will bring you along de Rauriser Ache, waterfalls, over spectacular bridges and through towering craggy cliffs. The route of approximately 1,5 hour is a magnificent outing for the whole family.

Climbing and Klettersteig 

 

Climb along steep gorges, safely secured with a rope. Or make a hike through enchanting alpine meadows along steep cliffs and over mountaintops, safely secure along a steel cable (klettersteig).

In the Rauris valley there are countless routes, discover them on your own or with a guide for the unique experiences.

Cycling and Mountainbiking

 

The cycling and biking trails offer something for everyone, with connections to the Tauern Bike tour and the Pinzgau bike path network the possibilities are endless. The trail to Kolm Saigun starts right at our doorstep, a guarantee for a memorable day.

Enjoy the impressive views and make a pleasant stop at one of the Alm huts. Do you want to make some more kilometers? Then cycle a number of stages of the Tauernradweg. A multi-day cycling tour through Austria and Germany.

You will find rental shops for (E-) bikes and mountainbikes in the centre of Rauris.

Swimming and waterfun

 

The outdoor pool Sonnblick in Rauris with its generous sunbathing areas, views to the mountain range and the child friendly pool are a guarantee for a fantastic day for the whole family. The 50 meter long waterslide is ofcourse the highlight for most kids.

If you prefer to swim in natural springs, visit the Seespitz beachpool at Zell am See, it is about half an hour drive from our house. Dive in the water or rent a dinghy or SUP.

Salzburg, city of Mozart

 

At approximately an hour drive from Rauris lies the romantic Salzburg city, birthplace of Mozart. Visit this historical city and experience the impressive buildings and attractive stores.

Enjoy a cup of coffee with of course the famous Mozartkugel pastry.

Krimmler Waterfalls

 

Visit the beautifull Krimmler Waterfalls.

With a total height of 380 meters, the Krimmler Waterfall is the highest staged waterfall in Europe.

Sallt Mines of Hallein

The “Mountain of Treasures”: the biggest salt mine in Austria.

Enjoy a fun and educational day in the salt mines.
